This furoshiki wrapping cloth is one in a series of designs I have featuring a mischievous cat named Tama, who loves heading out on her own and discovering new places. Tama is a very common name for kitties in Japan.
Here, she snoozes under a 'kotatsu', a low table with a heating element underneath and a blanket to retain the heat that's s fixture in Japanese homes in winter. 'Mikan' mandarin oranges like the ones on the table are typically snacked on while you warm your lower body. It's all too easy to put your head down on a 'zabuton' cushion and fall fast asleep before you know it!
I also sell a furoshiki hanger separately that works very well with this size furoshiki and makes it easy to display this cute cat fabric on your wall. You can find this handy hanger here.
Tama seems to have an eye for beauty, because each 'Tama' motif is a celebration of beautiful, traditional Japanese landscapes and customs. To see other 'Tama' designs, just enter the word 'Tama' in my internal store search box on the left side of this listing and they'll pop up.
It's about 50cm x 50cm(19.69" x 19.69") and like my other furoshiki, is a high quality 100% cotton. It can of course be used as furoshiki gift wrapping, though its petite size makes it best in this regard for smaller items, allowing for enough room to tie it. The rich colors and texture and size make it ideal for home decor or quilting projects, too!
